Deadlock is a third-person shooter MOBA hybrid developed by Valve. The game blends the strategic depth of Dota 2 — itemization, lane pushing, objective control — with fluid gunplay and an innovative movement system. Each 6v6 match takes place on a multi-lane map where players control unique Heroes to destroy the enemy's base.
Each Hero wields a unique weapon alongside 4 distinct abilities. Smooth gunplay with precise aiming mechanics combines with ability combos to create endlessly creative and engaging combat encounters.
Deadlock features a zipline system spanning the entire map, enabling rapid cross-lane movement. Combined with dashing, wall-jumping, and grappling hooks, it delivers the most satisfying movement gameplay in the MOBA genre.
A rich itemization system inspired by Dota 2 features 100+ items across 4 categories: weapon, armor, spirit, and utility. Each match demands different build strategies depending on enemy and ally compositions.
Beyond eliminating opponents, players must destroy guardians, control neutral bosses, and protect their Patron (similar to Dota 2's Ancient). Matches average 25-40 minutes with dramatic momentum swings.

Deadlock isn't just another game — it's Valve's effort to redefine the MOBA genre for the next generation. By combining Dota 2's strategic depth with compelling shooter gameplay, Valve is creating an entirely new genre that no other studio has the experience or resources to pull off.
